Works for me Wednesday - Saving space in a nursery

When I was planning our nursery I was trying to get the room to not feel so cluttered. We choose the smaller room to have our nursery so I was already trying to figure out how to put everything in its place. I got this great idea from a parade of homes so I thought.. why not? I love the way it has turned out! It saves space and is attractive so it works for us!

I decided to take the doors off of the closet and make the area into a cozy changing nook. I got a ridiculously cheap tension shower rod and some discount curtains at Target. We painted the inside of the closet the same color of the room and hung some star and moon touch lights. ( They are soft and give off a soft glow while changing diapers. No bright light to wake up baby! ) We kept the storage up above the changing table and keep baskets of clean sheets, diapers and extra wipes.

We then were blessed enough to receive a changing table from our sister in law. We took off the bottom part that housed a shelf so it was just a changing table. Out came another shower rod so we could hang baby clothes beneath the changing table. Here is a pic:

I'm so impressed! Oh how I wish the Internet was around when I had babies because I'm learning so much here!

That worked great! I would never have thought to hang clothes under the changing table.

This was such a great idea. I would never have thought to take the bottom off the changing table. Beautiful work.

So neat! I love it I love the "taking-the-doors-off-the-closet" idea to create more space--and yet in a way it's still getting used as a closet! Neato!

That's a great idea. We couldn't put the changing table inside the closet because of the built-ins that were already there.

We took the closet doors off too, but because we had such a small room that we didn't have room for the furniture AND closet doors. We used curtains instead of doors and it's worked very well. I highly recommend it!
