Giant Eagle Bargain Recipe of the week- Beefaroni

Bargain Meal of the Week

I am going back old school for this one. No fancy recipes or ingredients but something that the kiddos will love. (I hope you do too !!) It always makes too much for my family so I make the recipe in two trays and freeze one. Then the cost of the meal is cut in half! Happy Eating!

Beefaroni

1 pound ground beef (On sale $1.99 a lb) $1.99
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (Sargento on sale 2 for $5) $2.50
1 jar tomato sauce (Del Grosso Pasta on sale 4 for $5) $1.25
2 tablespoons butter
1 (16 ounce) package uncooked elbow macaroni (Barilla Pasta on sale 10 for $10) $1
salt and pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until evenly browned. Drain.

While the ground beef is cooking, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add macaroni, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. Drain, and stir in butter. Transfer to a large casserole dish, and mix in the ground beef, tomato sauce, and Cheddar cheese. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper over the top.

Bake uncovered for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until heated through and bubbly.

Total cost of this meal: $6.74 ($3.37 if you freeze half)

Add mixed veggies ( Steamfresh on sale 10 for $10) $7.74

Great recipe! So easy! My hubby used leftover, chopped-up, seasoned steak instead of ground beef and gave it a dusting of parmesean before sending it for crisping up under the broiler & it was like a gourmet experience. With such cheap and simple ingredients too! Thank you for sharing!

This was good! Thanks! I wonder what size can of tomato sauce you used? I had small cans on hand and used 2 of them..it seemed to work ok.
